SNOW DAY

There really is nothing better then a snow day! Everyone waking up at their leisure. The world is quiet because everyone is nestled in their homes escaping if it be just for a few hours from the rat race we call life. In the middle of the serene silence of a perfectly acceptable snow day in South Central PA the Duphily family, thought it was the perfect time for a snow ball battle disguised as a photo family session. Rachel had dreamed for years of having family photos in the snow, apparently I am the only crazy photographer willing to risk life and limb to capture the love and laughter of this family.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again being a mom is the HARDEST job I’ve ever done. When I make photos of a mom getting silly with her kids my shutter almost always starts a rapid fire sequence. I forever want Rachel’s children to remember that their mom did laugh! She does have fun. I hope when they look at these photos they see the LOVE she has for them.

Dads are always my toughest and favorite clients. They come to the session about half grumbly (not saying this dad was like that) and then somewhere when they realize I’m not going to make them behave the whole time they revert back to a Junior Higher who can’t wait cause mischief.

I know how hard marriage can be; in my own marriage I often say, he still makes me laugh, I’m pretty sure that is why we’re still showing up everyday. Naturally, I am drawn to couples who can laugh at themselves and each other.

This session will go down as one of my all time favorite sessions. The organic evolution that produced authentic images reminds us that while being a family has lots of bumps in the road it is also has moments of joy, laughter and above all else LOVE.
